    I don't know abou the first rule, but one I've learned the hard way is that anyone who brings the movie, "Popeye" is not going to be invited back. 

    Oh, and adding a surprise glob of Jell-o in the middle of the popcorn is frowned upon.  Setting off smoke bombs under chairs in sync with movie explosions is considered gauche.  No matter how good an idea it may seem at the time, not everyone enjoys an eel down their shirt during a suspensful moment.  By the way, some of these notes may also be applicable to date night.

    I prefer to avoid taking a date to the movies who requires two seats.
    (especially those that don't even notice the armrest between those two seats)
