Configuration question

My bassist has Sonar X1 with an Alesis iMultiMix8 USB board. We are trying to figure out how to configure Sonar to recognize each channel on the Alesis as a separate track in Sonar. I owned Sonar 3 and 4 back when they came out and used a MOTU 896HD, but I haven't messed with any of it in years. Right now every audio track we create in Sonar records everything that is plugged into the Alesis all together. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I might be mistaken, but i do not think the alesis USB mixer does multiple outputs, i think they are only stereo out. I know the older version that was firewire was multiout, but i believe that has changed.

If I am wrong then if the driver is installed correctly, then all the output (inputs in sonar) should show up in the track options.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

I should add, he brought his equipment over to my house to try and figure it out, but he left the manuals for both Sonar and the Alesis at his house. I can't get online with his computer so I've been trying to play around with it from memory all morning - just not getting anywhere.

Okay, so basically I can record left channel or right channel only. Thanks.

Is it the Alesis MultiMix8 USB 2? If so it has 8 in to the computer. If its the USB 1 it has 1 stereo in to the computer.

^^^^^^ Ditto this, If you can't see all of the channels in Sonar's audio device driver list, it's almost certainly not USB 2 and therefore the main stereo pair only.

In Sonar, go to Preferences>Audio>Devices... and look at the list of input drivers.
If you see list of multiple ports, you can record individual channels.
If you only see a single stereo port, you're limited to recording the master output.
