Help ME Please!Problems with Home Studio 6!

Hi there...I had a Alesis 8 track mixer, but it broke. I recently bought a new behringer 12 track, it's a usb mixer. I installed all the drivers, but now when I record I get some sort of feedback in the microphone. I do hip-hop music, so all I do is import and mp3 audio file, then I record over it. I don't know if it has to do with the my buffer size, or what. I have had this problem before but don't remember how I remedied it. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

what kind of microphone are you using?  are you plugging it into the mixer?

what kind of "feedback" is it, can you describe that better?  is it the mic feeding back into the monitors?

Feedback from the microphone? Not the speakers? Feedback is easy to get if you're recording with a microphone and listening to the audio through speakers. Do you still get the feedback with the speakers off and listening through headphones? Do you use direct monitoring?

hmm it's a phantom powered mic I'm not sure what model...it's not mine. But I hook straight into the board with an xlr wire. The feedback is hard to explain...it's almost like an echoing. It skips and echos.

Also I don't get feedback in the speakers b/c I do playback thru my headphones. It records with the feedback or echoin thing.

I think maybe you are experiencing a delay between the original sound being recorded and the sound you hear after it is processed by the computer. This is called latency and can be minimized by tweaking your audio options settings. If you would post screencaps of ALL the tabs in your Audio Options window it would probably save a lot of time and guesswork and help us to zero in on what the problem is. If you are unable to post screencaps (I can only do it with google chrome now) then links to the uploaded image files would be fine.

What audio interface are you using?
Or is the Behringer 12-track mixer also your audio interface? I assume so if it's USB.
Check the routing of the mixer; you may have the monitored signal being fed back to the input thus creating feedback.

Sorry update, I believe I have solved my feedback problem and my dropout problem...now my problem is delay in the recording. I record my vocals over the backtracking, but when I play them back they are not in rhythm. My vocals are behind the backtracking. Any suggestions?
