Clipping at the end of a song - possible bug?
Something I noticed in 64 bit Sonar X1c, anybody else get this (please test first!): STEPS: 1) Set Sonar "Stop At Project end on the track view". 2) Create a song which finishes with effects/reverb. EXPECTED/ACTUAL Sonar stops leaving effects still playing NEXT STEP: 3) Add some muted clips at the end so Sonar keeps playing until no audio is being heard (i.e. reverb/effects have stop playing) EXPECTED/ACTUAL Sonar stops well past the last sound has been heard. Everything is fine JOB DONE. HOWEVER NOW TRY THESE STEPS: 4) Replace the muted clips by Project -> Insert Time/Measures, nb I allow PLENTY of space at the end. EXPECTED/ACTUAL Sonar stops well past the last sound has been heard... fine but.... BUG? - You hear a clicking noise when Sonar stops playing (So back to step 3 as a workaround).

4) Replace the muted clips by Project -> Insert Time/Measures, nb I allow PLENTY of space at the end. I'd be happy to try to confirm this, but I don't understand what is intended by the above. FWIW, I always have Stop at Project End disabled. I've never seen the value in it, especially given that it can cause assorted issues like this. When you export/bounce the whole project, just select a couple measures past the end of the last clip to ensure FX tails are included.

Basically why does an inserted time/measure make a clicking sound .... whilst an inserted muted clip at the same point (instead) does not make a clicking sound... at the end of a song. NB nothing is playing in either scenario (100% convinced). My other concern (although the steps do not cover this) is that the click could happen in other similar scenarios during playback with inserted times/measures. Not looking for workarounds. If somebody can just confirm the issue with the steps I include, I can file a bug report. Thanks Alex

Basically why does a muted clip.... click at the end... whilst an inserted time/measure do not click/clip.... when nothing is playing in either scenario. I'm still a little confused. First, because the above seems a reverse of what you were saying before. Is it the muted clip scenario that clicks or the inserted measures scenario? And second, I don't see how inserting empty measures after the project end is going to keep the project playing. Insert Time/Measures is really just a shortcut to Select All and Slide, including meter/key changes, tempo changes and markers. If there's nothing to slide because you're inserting measures at the end of the project, it should have no effect. All that said, I suspect that this click is due either to specific plug-in you have in the project that clicks when processing is stopped or some issue with your interface driver/hardware not closing ports quietly. I can't reproduce it either way. Does the click export, or is it only heard in real-time playback?

Opps sorry, my last post was misleading. I edited it :). Following the steps on my original post is clear anyway. Either you can reproduce the issue or you can't. Thanks.
