Sonar 8 + UM-550

I am having a hard time getting my UM-550 to work with Sonar 8. I installed the HW using the latest drivers posted on the Roland web site. I can see all the in/out midi ports on Sonar but when I assign a midi out port to a midi track nothing happens. I know Sonar is sending data because if I switch the interface assignment to my old Unitor the sound module kicks in. I was also able to get it working by messing around with MIDI OX on MIDI PORT 1 but it didn't seem like something very productive. Does anyone have any idea of what am I missing? Is there any additional configuration in Sonar??

    Welcome to the forum.
Have you selected the UM-550 under Options>MIDI Devices?

Yes! So all 5 individual ports + controller are selected on the top bar midi options menu and they do show up on as available on the midi track "midi out" option. I can select the midi port but nothing comes out. BTW no error messages or anything of kind. Just no message going into my sound module. No lights blinking on the UM-550 as well.

That thing looks too complicated for me.
Looking at the manual, the only thing that comes to mind is to check your patch settings.

ok but what are you expecting to happen?  you don't have any info about what you have connected to it or how you have your MIDI tracks set up.  are you trying to record MIDI or send MIDI to some hardware synths or what exactly are you trying to get the device to do for you?
