unable to create new audio file for recording

I am getting this error message almost every time I try to record or even playback while a track is armed. Although I can occasionally record a trac,k it's pretty much impossible to use the software.

This is a new installation of Sonar X1 on Windows 7, 64-bit, 2.7 MHz AMD Phenom II, 8GB ram. Everything is on the C drive. I have recorded successfully a few times before this problem began.

Coincidentally, Sonar has intermittently stopped drawing waveforms in the clips. It says (Busy) but never draws.

First off, set up another hard drive and make it your audio drive. This drive is where your CWP and per project folders will be saved and stored. Its best to have a dedicated audio hard drive.

2nd, delete your pic cache and you should be in business

I had cleared my pic cache and it made no difference. However, I have moved the projects and content folders to a separate hard drive, and so far I have not gotten any more error messages. However, I am still not getting waveform images about half the time, no matter how long I wait.

1.1 TB on the C drive and 1.8TB on the K drive.

Are you using 2 Tb HDD's? (makes an old hippies sincere "huuuuuge" -sigh)
What kind of discs are they, not "energy saving green ones", I hope?

This may be an idiotic question, but could the HDD size be somehow an obstacle?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Don't know if this ever got fixed but I've started getting this error message. It's spoof as far as I'm concerned because I can record when I want to but I'm getting it while trying to playback as well. Click OK twice (??) and it goes away.

I haven't filed a bug report yet because I haven't found a really consistent recipe to replicate. It only ever happens if I have a track armed and also happens more often if I use my MCU to start playback rather than another method. I'm also using the step sequencer at the moment, which may or may not be related.

If I ever get a recipe I'll submit a bug report but at this point it's more an annoyance than anything else.
