X1 Record Latency Observation - WDM vs. ASIO
I am just configuring X1 for the 1st time after my new PC build. Out of the box, X1 defaulted to the WDM version of my Mackie Onyx FireWire driver (latest, v1.7). Performed loopback recording test. Tried to adjust Record Latency. In WDM mode, X1 let me type in a value, but the actual record latency did not change at all, no matter what I typed in! Switched to ASIO driver. Record Latency works fine; currently recording sample-perfect. Strange. I power-cycled the computer 4x to try it each way twice, and this result was completely consistent. Related observations: - In ASIO mode, X1 only seems to want to work with one Audio Device at a time. This is usually fine for me, but a seemingly significant limitation - I haven't noticed any problems with the ASIO driver yet, but if it performs worse than WDM, and I thusly have to choose between performance and recording synchronicity, that will be a downer. If this happens, I will be back, and I WILL whine at you guys, you can take that straight to the bank.
