I don't have hypersonic 2, so I can't help with specifics. but I can help with general MIDI problems. are you inserting notes via mouse clicks in the PRV? or Staff? does it not insert those notes at a certain default volume? (101, IIRC). are you saying that when that information is sent to hypersonic that hypersonic is changing that value to 0?

I'm inserting data via event list - midi files are ...pre-programed - & yes...it seems like when I start from beginning hyper is defaulting it to zero...only certain songs

No Hypersonic 2 here, either, so just guessing...some samplers use the mod wheel as an expression controller, so zeroing it out at the top of the file would result in no volume. You can eliminate that possibility by inserting a CC1 event at the top of the MIDI file. Similarly, some use CC11 in a nonstandard way, overriding CC7 instead of adding to it. You can eliminate that possibility the same way.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Ya know what...windows 7 sucks - I upgrade computers cause I've been rippin my freakin hair out w/noise issues for 10+ YRS...now, nothings compatible - close a song...open it & patches aren't assigned anymore

windows 7 doesn't have anything to do with noise issues or patches not being assigned anymore. like I said I don't have hypersonic, so I don't know for certain - but if it's a like TTS-1, you can't change the patches from the gui, you have to change patches for TTS-1 on the MIDI track.
