Compatibility of Cakewalk plugins outside of the SONAR environment.

Assuming you have been a consistent customer of SONAR from S1 till present day, what Cakewalk plugins are NOT compatible with competitive DAWs? I'm thinking it would only be these few. 64 bit: Prochannel Lexicon Pantheon 32 bit: Vintage Channel

Wouldn't a scan in that other DAW tell you what's missing?

Nope.  The plugins may still show up but will give you a notice that they will only work with Sonar.

    Dave:
Funny, just a couple of weeks ago I tested this very thing.  Unfortunately my memory is very short term.  I only found a couple of things that would not work in other DAWs.  VC will show up, but be inactive.  I don't believe Lexicon is tied to Sonar.

Bapu, There are quite a few CW plugs that I haven't used so I was afraid I wouldn't think to look for those when I did exactly what you mentioned. I think the ones that I listed are the only ones.

I wonder of you can run the Pro Channel .dll with a hardware controller?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I've been using the TimeworX Compressor and EQ since we got it... it's still pretty much my goto and I seem to remember that these versions only run in Sonar and will not run outside...

I know that the VC64 (as you mentioned) and Truepianos do not work in others hosts. Those are the only ones I've noticed so far.

Both work fine here in both REAPER and FL Studio.

Personally I don't like it when plug-ins are included with a program unless they can be used in other programs.  I understand the rationale for doing it this way, but I don't agree with it.

To me the plug-ins are devalued when they have restricted use and so I'm less likely to opt for that deal or even use them.  Conversely the offer of extra plug-ins as part of an upgrade seems more enticing if I know that the plug-ins can be used with any program, and I will definitely be more apt to using them.

It's really frustrating if, say, I'm doing some video editing and Sony Vegas and go in search of an effect only to realize I can't use it.  In those situations I remind myself not to use that plug-in and instead buy my own whereby that learning experience can be leveraged in any program.

All DX plugins from CW will run in a host that can use DX plugins keeping in mind about 64 bit and 32 bit plugins.

CW's VSTs will run in others hosts.

Third party VSTs and DX plugins may or may not run in other hosts. Most are for Sonar but not all are prevented from running. Vsampler for example will run.
    Really, its a mixed bag.

Using a VST/DXi wrapper (I believe FFX4) I got many CW plugs to work in Studio One. The VST ones all worked, except Vintage Channel, I think it was. I haven't tried Timeworks yet with the wrapper, but the show up in the list.
