Significant decrease of VSTi perceived volume

Hi,

I experienced this a few times in X1 (a,b) using Kontakt 4 Free and Alicia's Keys.

What happens is that suddenly, without any apparent reason,  the volume of the VSTi goes down, but the meters are showing the same values as before. Simply the perceived loudness becomes lower than normal. The volume of the VSTi is lower during playback but also while recording or playing the piano while playback is stopped.

After I reset both audio and MIDI engine, it returns to normal.

Has someone of you experienced this?

Best Regards,
Marek

You don't say whether you're using an "instrument" track or separate MIDI and audio tracks?

Do the audio and MIDI meters for the synth and related tracks both show the same values after the volume drop as before?

Does this happen in only one project, or across projects?

The time this happened to me I found a spurious MIDI CC7 (volume) was being intermittently sent by a controller (sticking pad), so I'd suggest looking for rogue CCs being sent to the synth (check for track/clip envelopes and in the events list).
