Wookiees' Tele..
I guess I should recap...the last post of this build I had mentioned the trip I had with z-poxy.
That stuff is used by many luthiers and that's cool. The problem I had was that the container nor instructions
mentioned that it cures with an amber tint. I sure didn't want that so I had to completely resand.
I use a water based acrylic micro-bead but wanted to try something new and got in trouble...well when I
used the acrylic it was fine on the sapele but I got it on the maple...had to completely resand again. Man the lessons
have been tuff.
After working my way through all that mess I've finally made some progress.
The bridge has been located, holes drilled ready to mount when it's time.
The holes to mount pickup and machines are drilled.
Cavities are shielded.
Frets have been leveled and semi-crowned. Waiting for some special tools to try a new technique to fine tune crown.
It's sanded to 1200 grit and the wood is really starting to shine.
I hope the zebra cavity cover is Ok...Ebony seemed out of place with a rosewood fretboard and the other
rosewood I have doesn't match. The grain may not seem so different when the knobs are on.
Also, if you notice the copper in the body- it does extend lower into the cavity and has the conductive shielding
paint covering it. Just putting copper tape over it doesn't insure contact. Should a grounding wire be screwed
in cavity best to catch both the copper and paint.
Hopefully I'll be oiling it down by next weekend....then it's put it together and dial it in.
The neck is much like a Tele but a hair thicker. Two hairs.
This is my last build for quite some time so hope it's enjoyed. I've had a great time with it
and looking forward to hearing John play it.
