Calling all Pod X3 Live users

Hello all
I have the Pod X3 and I want to be able to hear the effects but record it dry so they're not set in stone I'm sure this can be done but not sure how?
I'm recording through the S/PDIf out into my Emu-0404.
Can some one tell me the best way to do this or point me to the right page in the manual?
Cheers

Steve

You probably have to go into the line 6 device properties in device manager or there is a setting somewhere in the X3 itself which may be accessable via podfarm.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

You can set the s/pdif outputs (on the outputs page) to just send out the dry input signal.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

    Thanks Drew,
Are you sure it's not just the inputs that can be set to dry?
Having looked through my s/pdif settings (on the outputs page) that's the only option it gives me.

Gtr into Emu 0404 input one.
Pod X3 input connected to EMU 0404 output one.
Pod X3 output connected to EMU 0404 input two.
Right click on FX bin of the track in Sonar, select external insert.
Select the correct inputs and outputs used to connect the Pod as an external insert.

That's how I do it with my Pod but then again, I have a MOTU UltraLite mk3 which is a 10 input x 14 output unit.
Not sure how many ins and outs you have.

    Hope it helps.

From page 6*2-6*3 of the manual:

S/PDIF – sets the signal for the S/PDIF output. There are four options:
Match Studio/Direct – S/PDIF outputs the Tone and Pan settings as shown.
    Studio/Direct Tone 1 – S/PDIF outputs Tone 1 only, panned center.
    Studio/Direct Tone 2 – S/PDIF outputs Tone 2 only, panned center.
Dry Inputs – S/PDIF Left outputs the unprocessed input(s) to Tone 1, and S/PDIF right outputs the unprocessed input(s) to Tone 2.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.
