Sonar X1c and Kontakt 5

Hi
I am trying to port over some of my stuff to kontakt 5 from 4 with the recent upgrade.

When I use a drum library, I use the 16 out version of Kontakt.  In K4, I had all 16 outs available in Sonar.  With K5, I have errors on channels 11++.

Not available, errors in routing.... Channels 1-10 work fine.

Anyone else seeing this?  Wasn't happening in K4.

Thanks

With K5 I can only get access to the first two channels. I was trying to work with Ocean Way Drums. I had to revert back to K4.

Are you saying that in KONTAKT 5 you can't assign the outputs to the channels.... like 1-2 to audio 1, 3-4 to audio 2, etc?

I remember something about when you set these up, you need to save as default, then exit Kontakt and restart to have the outputs available all the time.

I was thinking of getting K5, but just another reason to wait.

    space cowboy,
Did you try those channels anyway? I get a few channels that report "error" when assigning K5 outs on SONAR - but they work fine.

I'm wondering if this is just a cosmetic thing, with the way K5 reports it's outputs to SONAR. Or maybe SONAR is screwy and can't see the K5 outs properly.

Try assigning to these outs anyway - and see if they all work. I've got 8 (stereo) pairs, and 16 (stereo) pairs working fine - without doing anything special. It jus *looks* wrong in th elist of K5 outputs that you're assigning your SONAR track to.

This cannot be fair; Sonar X1 has been out there. Native Instruments should have tested their products before releasing.

The sad thing is that this never happened with K4.

I should try to do a completely new file instead of trying to change out a K4 to K5 and see if I still have the issues.

It's a absolute must do with any NI software. It must be run in stand alone first.

Maybe that is what I have done wrong.  Will try to run stand alone first.

Let us know if it works, please.  I'm about to get Komplete8 and want to know if there are any major issues with Kontakt especially.  Thanks.

Stand alone mode doesn't seem to have anything to do with it - that just sets up ins/outs for physical MIDI and audio ports.

We're talking about how Kontakt outputs appear in SONAR.

It seems to me that it is only a label problem because everything works fine. In my 8 stereo output pairs example - 8 instruments load up fine and play on their respective outputs - despite the SONAR labels saying "error" for the last output pair.

Using the Kontakt 16 outs - the default seems to be a stereo output pair and 4 aux outputs. The 16 outs (8 stereo pairs) are labeled:
    st1
    aux1
    aux2
    aux3
    aux4
    unassigned
    unassigned
    unassigned

If you add 3 more outputs on the Kontakt mixer - the Kontakt outs are labelled the same in Kontakt - but SONAR sees them as
    st1
    st2
    st3
    st4
    aux1
    aux2
    aux3
unassigned (the last aux out is actually unassigned.

As soon as you add more outputs in the Kontakt mixer - everything looks OK in Kontakt and plays OK in SONAR - but the labels for the last 3 output pairs are screwy and the last one just says "error".

I wish I could explain better, and the same type of thing happens with the 32 stereo outputs in the "full" Kontakt dll (it would just take longer to explain)

Once again - if you load 8 intruments in my original configuration and set them up on their own channels - everything works fine, so this must be a problem with labels only. (the way Kontakt presents it's outputs to SONAR)

in stand-alone, you can set the default outs for the VSTs; an easy test would be to do that, then see how it appears in sonar as a VST

Kontakt 4 is the same way. You have to ignore the labels and figure out what is what. Then make a track template with all Sonar output tracks labeled properly.
