Anyone seen this error in X1?

*Screenshot attached*

This is a first for me ... I have no clue what this means ...

It happened after I exported a project. The project exported fine, then Sonar crashed and gave this pop-up box. When I closed the box, I got a blue screen with one sentence at the top but my PC rebooted too fast to read it.

This happened 4 times. I finally had to do a complete shutdown and let my DAW sit with the power button off for about 5 minutes, then all was fine.

Any ideas what this means?

I don't have an 'f' drive so I'm assuming it is some kind of invisible virtual drive X1 creates?

This could only happen to you , Bub ....

Googling it brings up references to a memory leak and C++

    C++!!!!!!!! AH!!!!!!!!!!

    Hehe :)

Honestly, it was such a bizarre error that I had never seen before, I never thought of doing a search for it on the net.

I got the improper argument before but I dont remember the exception thrown in destructor that sounds like something that would happen to me.

I had a few improper arguments dialog when I had a VST inserted and tried to click on its property page then it locked up Sonar...

The 'f' drive and the path and filename, all refer to files on the machine the code was built on (i.e. some build machine in Boston somewhere)...not your local machine.

Basically, it means that export function was trying to clean up after itself and ran into a condition that the developers and testers hadn't encountered yet.

What were you exporting and where were you exporting it to?

When you notify Cakewalk of the error (please do), they will want to know all of the options you were using during the export.  If you were exporting to something other than your local hard drive (like maybe some sort of removable media), that will be important too.

    Hi Dan,

The project was 96kHz/32bits and I was exporting it to 44.1kHz/16bits with Triangular Dither and the 64 bit Engine On. 12 tracks, all frozen so it was just exporting waves other than the PC and Boost 11 on the master bus.

I'll see if I can find any kind of dump file and send in a trouble report.

    Thanks for the info,

    Bub

    Bub,

So this is not reproducible yet?    If it is -- I would suggest turning off 64bit DP Engine.   That setting doesn't seem to get along with every plugin out there, and MIGHT have some affect here (just guessing of course).

    Hi Billy,

No it's not reproducible now. It was doing it continually though at the time but I couldn't get video like I normally do because my DAW would reboot without warning.

I just went back and checked the project. There were three FX being used on the Master bus, all other tracks were frozen. The FX were, Pro Channel, Sonitus Multiband Comp, and Boost 11. It was 64 bit the whole way, which I would hope wouldn't be a problem with the 64 bit Engine ... but you never know. :)

I've been following some of your multiple issues Bud, but I have to admit that you take the cake for original and never before seen issues. Well done! Developers will now tremble in fear and respect you for your skills in seeking them out.

What's not clear to me is... have you ever rebuilt from scratch after deleting all partitions and reformatting, or is that a "don't wanna go there" humongous job?

Believe me, I don't want it to be like this. HEH! :) So far 99% of the problems I've seen have been fixed by X1 patches ... which is a good thing! It means my system isn't broken like I'm led to believe sometimes ;), and Cake is hard at work perfecting X1. :) It's 99% of the way there! There's a few more things that need to be ironed out, but honestly there's really only a couple things that crop up on my system that affect me. Once those small things are taken care of (hopefully with another quick fix or full patch before X2), I'll be very happy with X1.
What's not clear to me is... have you ever rebuilt from scratch after deleting all partitions and reformatting, or is that a "don't wanna go there" humongous job?
Like ampfixer said, I can do it in my sleep. :) I have images of my HDD at different points, fresh install of OS, OS and Windows Service Packs, X1 without any patches, X1 with patches, 8.5, 8.5 and X1.

There is a hidden partition Windows 7 creates. I've restored that as well along with my MBR from a drive image. There is a procedure for removing the hidden partition all together and setting Windows to not require it or use it, but I've never messed with it. It's only 100MB and I've never even used 20% of my boot HDD so I don't mind it being there.

    Thanks,

    Bub :)

It means it was trying to destroy an object, most likely a form (maybe the export dialog) and the code that has asked that the object be destroyed got back an error condition.

Nothing you as a user can do but cake needs to know if it is persistent and especially reproducible.
