Latency in XP Mode in Windows7 64bit

Hi everyone,
I have increased the Virtual Memory to from 512mb through to 2560mb (I have total of 8GB ram available) and still have a lag (Latency) problem, has anybody had this problem and resolved it???

Also the drum track sounds out of sync with the rest of the file when played

Regards
Steve

Ram and virtual memory size are probably not related to you latency issues.
By the way, the "normal" recommendation for virtual memory is to set it at 1.5 times the size of the physical memory.  In your case that would be 12GB of virtual memory.  That said, unless you are running a lot of stuff at once, you shouldn't need much virtual memory with 8GB of real memory.  Disks are cheap - set the virtual memory to at least 12GB.

XP mode under Win 7 is some kind of virtual machine environment (I don't know much about it).  It must add some execution overhead.  That might be the real source of your latency.  However, you haven't said what kind of latency you are experiencing and your hardware setup info is critical to know for any kind of problem solving.

Thank you Larry and for your continued support on this forum.

My CW pro9 works fine in Windows7, but when I open XP Mode in Widows Virtual PC, CW Pro9 is somewhat lagging, hesitant etc. I can put up with it but it is a touch annoying. I have read other forums where it is mentioned that XP Mode isn't all that people expect, so it might be something that is common to XP Mode

It's pretty amazing that CWPA9 still works in Win7.  I just assumed you were running it in the XP virtual machine.  Since the XP virtual machine is interfering with CWPA9, then maybe increasing your virutal memory to 12GB might help.  In my XP system, I set the virtual memory allocation with the minimum and maximum set to the same large value.  That way the operating system allocates the entire size and doesn't have to do it in real time as you run your apps.  I think you can do the same thing under Win7
