PCIe and Firwire Interfaces: Swappable in X1?

Anybody have experience using X1 on a single machine alternating between a PCIe interface (Aurora Lynx 16, in my case) and a firewire interface (Presonus Firestudio Tube, in my case) during a session?

I'm not talking simultaneous use, but for example I would use the PCIe about 80% of the time, but the other 20% I would like to use the firewire interface.

Just wondering if it's worth trying at all before I get wrapped up in what could be - and has in previous versions - proven to be very buggy.

I'm hoping it's just a matter of - at worst - closing out X1, powering off one interface, powering up the other, and re-opening X1.

Could it be that easy?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Stuff.

    Treefight,

Not to jump in for the experience of other users, but SONAR can switch interfaces on the fly, even hot swap them. I've had multiple interfaces plugged into various systems on many occasions and its just a matter of going to Preferences and telling SONAR which one to use).

SONAR will also remove or add a device if you plug it in or unplug it while SONAR is open. No need to restart SONAR or power cycle the device.

Yeah Seth, I really resent you jumping in here, what with you being an actual Cakewalker and all!

Seriously, thanks for the quick reply.  I know I had read that somewhere in the X1 literature, but good to know it should work before I go moving rack gear, cables, mics, drums - you get the picture.

It's no wonder these forums are well-known as the best of any DAW forums.  That's no small thing.

    Ok, that's great news.

Now what are you doing awake at this our?  Wait - what am I doing awake at this hour?  You've got three hours on me.

    Thanks again.  I'm psyched.

    Peace,

    Chris

Ya, man, its late, but I'm in LA so its only 3 AM ish.

Ah, ya, is you're not using X1 then you haven't used the new Preferences menu, which combines all of the menus into one.

Not all the menus but all the options that were scarttered all over the old menus in the old versions. X1 still has menus and plenty of them.

Do some research Treefight. It'll be a shock if you are not prepared. I believe you can DL the manual. It is 1800+ pages and unlike in the past it needs to be fully read.
