nudge and split aren't working

I'm sure this is something simple I'm missing here. Basically working on some edits at the moment for a guitar part and when I use the num key pad to try and nudge parts around the project I'm getting the scroll functions in the track view and not the nudge functons. the other issue I'm having as well is that I can't seem to split audio tracks into seperate sections either using the smart tool or the split edit tool. I'm pretty sure it's something obvious and is just a key press and any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

    should also mention pressing scroll lock does not seem to have any effect. If I close the session and restart sonar I'm able to spit the clips again but the nudge function does not seem to be working for me.
