Metronome note value

I have Prod 3. I need to record a song in 12/8 @ 72 bpm with a dotted quarter getting one beat. How do I change the metronome click to a dotted quarter note value? Thanks, Iceman

Your best bet is to create a Midi track output to a drum soft synth. Put the instrument sound you want on the beat you want and either leave it as midi, freeze it, or bounce it to audio. You could even make a one measure midi clip and make it a groove clip which you can then extend as far as you want. The Cakewalk metronome is not sophisticated enough to do what you want.

Do it in 4/4 and use triplets on each quarter note. Set the metronome for the 1/4 notes. Course Sonar isn't all that hot with triplets either especially if you get into syncopation of any kind.

They can put an orchestra in a box, but they can't allow a simple metronome tweek. Yes, Chappel, an old fashioned track stripe. Thank you
