timidi is There a way to move the SD contents folder and have everything hunky dory...? I just want to change my drive letters and SD doesn't like that. Thanks The easiest way is at install time. If you re-install it by selecting SD and nothing else from the installer it gives you a preference of where you'd like the content installed. Put your required path in the box and the installer will take care of it. You can then move your existing content folder where you've just installed the 'new' content to. If you move it there any stuff that you may have added since your original setup, (i.e. any files that may be included in Sonar version updates you've already applied) will show up too.

Thanks Jon. I just installed 8.5 32 and 64 (again). Do I have to uninstall SD in each first? And, re-install each 32 and 64? Thanks

If not right click on the installer and select the option to do that. You'll only need to (re)install it once as the content is the same for both versions.

timidi CD F:\Samples\_Soft Synths\sonar stuff\Session Drummer 3 OK CD/DVD in Drive. Go to Computer, Select your DVD, right click and select open. Right click on Setup, run as administrator. I think you are trying to run the installer from some shared folder view rather than the actual drive directory itself. The destination folder looks valid to me. Any joy now? If not try again after a reboot. btw are you nearly there yet with the rest of the build? What did you do about the RME card?

right - as Jon is pointing out - run the SETUP program (as admin - OR disable UAC first), don't try to install from the Session Drummer directory from the DVD

no joy. "btw are you nearly there yet with the rest of the build? it's built. I think. Had a bad hard drive and a video card that wouldn't fit. So, dealing with all that. Just trying to load the VSts and such. What did you do about the RME card? " I got a new one. http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_hdspe_aio.php

I got a new one. http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_hdspe_aio.php Nice. btw, make sure if you use Sonar's installer you use the same one as you originally installed from, i.e if you originally installed from a download version you can't then use the DVD version to make amendments to the install. One more thing to consider. Get on to customer support in the morning if you have no joy meantime, they should talk you through it. It's hard to give remote support via the forum, sorry I couldn't be any more help.

If you're up for it you can manually change the content path(s) in the Registry. Rail

Thanks Rail. Tried that. I have restored the computer to a pre-Sonar state using a Windows system image. Started over and Installed 8.5 from DVD. Loaded Session Drummer. try to load a program (they show up) and get this error: "ids file missing not found in text resource file". Arghhh....... Edit: Ok, so, if I "load program" from the 'prog' button I can load programs. But, using the other 'new program' button is where I get the error message. I'm on 8.53 now.

Jon, I gotta admit. I feel pretty stupid right about now. I was trying to install just the program. You meant, with the content. I didn't get that. I figured, content is content. But, no, there's a little file in the content folder that SD reads to know where to go, and since my F: drive data is unchanged, SD didn't understand ..... So, I deleted the content folder and re-installed. That's the ticket.........Thanks........ DOH.......
