Looking For Bass Drum Generator

Hello all. I am working on a project where I want to be able to generate bass hits and tones much like the classic TR-808. The only thing missing from the 808 is the ability to play various tones of bass in succession. I do like the hits and control that the 808 gets, I just want to be able control the attack and decay of sine waves by keys on a piano. The following link illustrates this to the extreme...but it definitely gets the point across. Give a listen and point me in the right direction if you can.  Thank you.

Basically looking for that thick Miami bass feel. Not that I am going to make music like that but this particular element is desired. I imagine it is possible to configure some instruments to do this. I am just looking for a plug-in or something that someone knows of that lends itself well to this type of thing. So attack and decay control as well as the ability to set it so that no tones overlap if a second key is hit. The first note will stop and the second starts.

There's more ways to create bass sounds in Sonar than any other sounds. Try Pentagon or z3ta+ for those kinds of sounds.

    http://www.e-phonic.com/plugins/drumatic3.php Is good.

The other way to do this trick is to take a sample of an 808 tom and play it right down the the end of the keyboard (ie a couple of octaves below where it should be).

Good tip. I checked this out with the 808 Tom in the Roland Groovesynth. All I had to do was push the Attack up to 5 to take some of the "click" out, and EQ up the low end and down the midrange. The keyboard appears to be 1/4-tone per half-step by default, and putting a key+ offset of -24 on the MIDI track gave a nice super-low range at the bottom of an 88-key keyboard.

My woofers will never be the same.

    Yup it's great.

Combine it with an 'Amen' loop pitched up a bit, sliced in to 8 pieces and semi randomly resequenced and you have authentic old school Jungle / Drum n Bass.

    Jungle is indeed massive!

Funny you should bring up the word Massive. While there are many ways to achieve bass tones, I really liked the features of the NI Massive plugin. I was able to shape the different aspects of the attack and such and ultimately came back with perfect replication of the bass tones in my example. Thanks for the replies..they were helpful.
