Inspector Arpeggiator

I have an instrument track in X1c that uses the arpeggiator located in the track inspector (not a MIDI FX arp).  I would like to vary the rate from 1/8 to 1/8t using automation or MIDI control but I cannot find how to do this.  How can I do this?
 
I tried recording while changing the rate and then examined the Event List to see if any data was generated, but found nothing.

    Select 'Triplet' at the bottom of the same pop-out menu whyere you selected the 1/8th note resolution (i'm talking about the arpeggiator timing parameter, just below arpeggiator 'Presets.')

    Thanks for the fast reply.  I can manually change the rate by selecting the triplet or by clicking the spinner next to the rate field, but I want to have the change be made via automation or midi, not by mouse click.  I cannot figure it out and I haven't found it in the documentation.  Surprisingly, it's not in Scott's book either (which I have sitting right here next to me ).

    I just found it in the Reference Guide on page 269!  Must have been asleep at the wheel.

    Hi Gregg,

    Thanks for reading my book! Automation is covered in Chapter 12 of SONAR X1 Power. It works pretty much the same for all parameters, which is why it is located in its own chapter and not discussed for every single parameter throughout the book.

    I see, automated arp rate change, just like it sez in your original post -- didn't catch that on my first read thru.

    These automated arpeggiator parameters are a good find. I never noticed them before. Cheers.

    After reading this thread I immediately bought X1 Power. That something so obscure was covered in the book makes me wonder what other snippets of gold are contained therein. It never, ever occurred to me that the Arpeggiator could be automated. I imagine it can be automated to do other things...like pattern changes perhaps...that's why I read this forum. I never know what post is going to open up a new vista.

    Thanks very much! I hope you enjoy the book.

    To get a visual indication of what track parameters can be automated, just click the track's W (Automation Write) button. This will highlight all track parameters that can be automated with a four-corner red outline. This action also arms all the parameters for automation recording. To disarm them all, click the W button again.

    I have been playing with the Arp for a bit today and you can automate all of it except the Preset (at least I havent discovered an automation control).  As indicated in the Reference Guide, you have to split the instrument track into separate synth and MIDI tracks in order to have the arpeggiator automation controls available.  If you like instrument tracks, you can always re-combine them after you are done making the MIDI edits.
    Scott's book really is worth it's wieght in gold, especially with gold at $1700/oz!

    Hi Gregg,

    You don't need to split the instrument track to access the parameters. Just click the MIDI tab at the bottom of the Inspector.
