Problems with Beats Per Minute

I am trying to change the entire song to 100 beats per minute. The default sonar settings is 120 bpm. However, after I change the value to 100, when the MBT moves to the second measure, it changes itself back to 120 bpm. How do I maintain 100bpm throughout the entire song? Thanks.

that doesn't work for audio.  if your project is audio only, then changing the tempo in the project simply stretches the waveform picture to fit the new tempo, it does not affect the actual tempo of the audio.

the only way to change the tempo of the audio waves of the project after you've recorded it is to use audio snap (depending on which version of sonar you have)

And to add to that===don't do that unless your absolutely desperate, it will screw everything up. If it's midi your changing no problem. Open the tempo map. You can draw the tempo there. But for audio you need to start the project and finish it at what ever you had set the tempo ( metronome) before you hit big red button. It is a bad idea to change your mind.

The tempo can be changed at any point in the song. In fact, that is what has happened in your project. Find the tempo view, view->tempo, and have a look at the chart. To be sure, open the side panel in that view to see all the tempo change events. If you want a constant tempo, delete all the events except the one at the very beginning.

Exactly the same thing happened to me and I thought I was going mad!

As bvideo said you need to get to the TEMPO VIEW and ensure that you remove any rogue tempo change events

I remember seeing a horizontal line that had a step in it for the tempo change

I simply removed the step so that I had a flat horizontal line in the TEMPO VIEW

You can then change the tempo of the entire song

It happens easily when you copy-paste MIDI-clips. There's maybe a tempo-command in the beginning of the clip, and you paste that as well. That's why the tempo switches back to original at the beginning of the pasted section.

And in Kalle's example, you have to go to the Event List and delete any rogue tempo change events from there.
