TS-64 Tranient Shaper - Unusable!
Windows 7 64 bit, Sonar 64 bit X1C Only: Steps 1) Add to a track (a Session Drummer 3 track, but you could try other tracks) a TS-64 Transient Shaper effect to your tracks FX bin. 2) Attempt to play back. What happens? You will notice that you will not be able to hear certain tracks... It will be unusable. Even switching it off may not work. Only thing you can do is undo (nb resetting audio engine or restarting Cakewalk, or even you sound card, will not work). Also please check: Under C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\TransientShaper\TS64_TransientShaper_64.DLL. Looking at the DLL (right click - Properties), you should be on file version 17.02.242 Or is this just me? Many Thanks Alex

Working okay here. Are your interface drivers up-to-date given some of your other troubles?

"CakeAlexS" Windows 7 64 bit, Sonar 64 bit X1C Only... file version 17.02.242 I just did a test following the steps you laid out. Substitute SD3 for Trillian and others while also using different transient presets. Works as advertised here. And we do have the same version number.

Thanks - but I don't think it's related FastBikerBoy, otherwise I would have similar troubles elsewhere. Besides it is an entirely different issue (leakage across tracks). Thanks Laney, I think you are on the same version as me? You quoted your Product Version rather than your File Version (which is in the same area of the UI?). If nobody else can repro this I'll guess I'll be contacting support (building up a list of issues first before I hit them).

And thanks to Fastbiker and Alegria! You posted two minutes after I did so I didn't get to read your post Alegria until now! Thanks for double confirmation. Building up quite a list of support calls to make.

hardly ever use it as it introduces so much latency to the session. when you say you dont hear tracks playing back... are they audio or midi? try raising your buffer, this has worked for me. my X1c is up to date (as far as I know) but I have a slightly older file version... how come?

Hi PerfectPrint Yup tried MIDI/Audio and raising the bugger (opps sorry buffer). With your footer you don't state whether X1c is running 32 bit or 64. With 32 bit that might be why your DLL is different (although I doubt that is your problem because the DLL has "64" in the filename, but you never know, crazier things have happened!). Otherwise try searching your hard drive for other TS64_TransientShaper_64.DLLs in case it has been misplaced somewhere. Failing that - off to support with you! Cheers...

I'm wondering if I was too quick to dismiss FastBikerBoy thoughts, we shall see when that other issue finally gets sorted out. One thing I'm starting to realise is that Sonar X1 really does suffer from DLL hell. It would be nice to have a tool here that will check to see if all DLL's are up to date, or at the very least a document listing what DLL versions we should be running on.

I know this is not totally responsive - but I like the UAD version much better and the latency issues are not there for me.

I'm wondering if I was too quick to dismiss FastBikerBoy thoughts......... Well my wife usually does so you're in good company. Seriously though I used to use an Alesis Multimix FW12 as my interface and I used to get all sorts of strange problems including the odd BSOD. The situation did get better with driver updates but never totally cured every problem. When I upgraded that to my present A&H ZED-R16 all of those strange happenings just stopped. Albeit I was running V8.3 at the time. My conclusion was Alesis drivers are/were flakey.

I've resolved the other issue (delay with recording arm buttons, turns out its a driver issue), issue still persists.
