Making a Conceptual Album!!!

Hi, ive had this idea for some time now to make a concept project for myself of 11 tracks, ive noticed in some concept albums like The mars volta's Deloussed in the commatorium the way every song finishes is the beggining of the next song, and so on, so all songs are connected by things that keep on ringing from the previous song. I Want to know how to do it, ive though of making a big session with all the songs continuoslly and when im done, select where i want each track to finish and export it, so they all coincide with sound. But im not sure if that is the best option,

another i thought of was individually making seperate project and somehow making the songs link up, but that one seems harder because i cant achieve the exact sound i want to start the next song or project with, i hope you guys can help me out, id say pink floyd is to conventional to what im trying to explain,

Rokadavis: There are a couple of ways of doing this.

The way my band is doing our concept album is having the main songs as discreet stereo tracks, and using either CD Architect or Studio One Pro, both of which have the means of creating the full CD "project" using two independent "lanes".

Thus, for example, the top "lane" could have the songs and the bottom one can have the music/sounds that are the transitions between songs. You can then decide exactly where you want to beginning and end points of the songs to be.

Alternatively, you can decide in advance to place the sound/music at the end of one song and have it also at the beginning of the next song, but I think that requires a little more planning.

Others may have better suggestions, but this is one that works.

I like Steve's second idea best, in that the extra planning involved may go a long way towards tying the discreet song elements together. However you do it, remember the flow that goes through and links everything together.

CD architect is def one way to go, the other is Cakewalks Audio Creator, its a little buggy but will do the job that you are asking.

Basicly what you are talking about is making a Redbook cd, AC has a two track editor and what you do is arrange the tracks in the two track editor in the sequence you want, then you place a marker where you want the tracks to blend into one another.

The other good thing about AC is it comes with the mp3 encoder and so you don't have to purchase one seperatly.

Oh yea you will be able to pick up a copy for around $60
