    Bapu that was my first thought too...butt ugly.

    I did have ideas right away about what I'd do...and may do so down the road.
    It could still be an attractive looking guitar (conventional styles) and keep the basic idea.

    Would certainly address weight factors.

    To me the Ovation round backs were ugly and hard to hold. 

    I think they became popular because Glen Campbell used them on his TV show IIRC.
