Hardware, X1 Studio, and Crashes

Hi,

I bought a Tascam US-800 and my computer has been crashing a lot.  The Tascam web site has an update to the manual PDF with a list of know issues like "power down with MIDI DAW open causes crash" and "sending MIDI notes before DAW startup causes crash".  Also, according to the manual, I have to run an install procedure on each USB port if I want to change these.

Is this typical of an audio interface?  Are there better ones out there?
