Latency Between MIDI USB interface and Sonar Audio VST

I recently updated from sonar 8.5 to X1C. I can not seem to reduce the latency enough so that when i press a midi key, the audio plays instantly. Any recommended settings that i should use? FYI, i also just purchased Scarlett Focusrite USB sound card. Could that be the problem? My previoua soundcard had a SATA connection and i did not have this problem.

The most important things you should do are:

    1.  Download newest drivers
    2. Use ASIO and adjust latency from the soundcard's ASIO panel.

Did you try turning on the Global FX bypass button? That may help if you are trying to add midi to a project loaded with other VSTs or FXs.
