Is this laptop too slow?

Ok I got an older Toshiba laptop. Intel core duo centrino 1.5 ghz 3gb ram. I know the system requirements for music creator 6 but I only plan to use the drums and maybe a few tracks of midi. Will it work at all?

yes, it will likely work but it will limit how many tracks/FX/softsynths you can use.

it will also affect your latency if you're using a MIDI controller to record MIDI using softsynths and will likely cause you to have to increase the latency buffers to prevent dropout.

what soundcard will you be using?

I have used computers that were "under spec" in the past. Cake will run, but there may be some issues as Beagle mentioned. Latency, limits of the number of tracks that will run smooth, how long it takes to process things, and load VST/FX.....
