Edit Filter - Please explain how this works?
Just looking at an old project I've loaded up in X1 and I want to re-assign an automation envelope but cannot seem to select it on the track. I'm trying to use the EDIT FILTER and view "Automation" but as the envelope is Orphaned I cannot select it and delete it. I thought the smart tool would select various tools by hovering over events but no joy. How does this work exactly?

Try Shift-clicking the orphaned envelope to get it into focus, right click it and choose delete. That's all. But I don't think you can re-assign it to other parameters... I could be wrong. I often am

I think a right-click over an envelope offers two choices: Delete and Reassign, with Reassign bringing up it's own sub-menu. However, I could also be wrong....

Probably is. I have never read the manual, only the "What's new in Sonar" bits. Should probably look it over. I've never really had the need to re-assign an envelope but when I learn how to do it I'll probably do it all the time

Well - I always plough trough the manual before asking questions here (I had a few RTFM-remarks on some Linux sites before I learned to actually do what was said with that remark to me), so I read a bit now and then. Until now I had a surprisingly little amount of questions asked. The last one was about... ehhh... well... errr... something I guess?

I don't think the Reassign process has changed from previous versions, which is probably why it was familar without looking. I have needed to reassign envelopes in the past, usually when swapping out FX or synths. Or (more often) when I've selected the wrong parameter in the first place.

I use the manual for referencing if I need to do something and don't know how. And I've picked up tips on these forums - like this one, which might have been completely obvious to everyone else. But I've never looked for it so I didn't know. And when I do I just ask here, saves me the trouble of searching through the manual But know that I am very greatful when people reply to these questions

Like I mentioned earlier, now that I know it can be done I'll probably find plenty of use for it

I have learned a lot just by reading the questions and answers to them here... [Edit] Oh dear... Just while I was typing this message I heard some sad news on the radio... I just heard the news about the passing away of Harry Muskee - the lead singer of Cuby and the Blizzards at the age of 70. I have seen the guy a few times, and he was really a nice person. Sad news indeed... Sigh.. back to work.... [/Edit]
