Tap Tempo?
I tried a Tap tempo plugin (Tap!1.2), and MC5 does not update it's tempo. I also can't find any setup in MC5 for external sync. Is there any way to make this work in MC5?

Using the MC metronome, you can tap in a tempo with the mouse. External synch to what?

Thanks Gregy. I found it! Insert->Tempo Change, then I get the Tap Tempo Box. Too bad it does not have a dedicated button, that is always in view(like Ableton Live has). As far as external sync capability, if MC5 did not have tap tempo, I could set up the Tap tempo plugin in another host(as master), and have it send the tempo clock to MC5(as slave) via MidiYoke.

Many MCs have a metronome toolbar from which you can set the tempo and use the tap tempo button. I seem to recall some folks not being able to use that toolbar, though. Can't recall the reason. Right-click in the toolbars area or click Views>Toolbars and see if the toolbar menu opens and if you can get the metronome toolbar to stay in the GUI. But that could be something that was removed, or glitchy.

Unfortunately, in my MC5, when I go to View, there is no toolbar option. The closest is View->Tempo, but that gives the full tempo map view. It would be absolutely necessary for me, if I had MC6 and was using the matrix view.

Once you open the Tempo Map View, click on the TEMPO LIST ICON to show the list of tempos in the right sidebar. then click on one of the tempos (you may only have one, but you will have at least one). this will enable the INSERT TEMPO ICON on the TEMPO MAP TOOLBAR. now click on the INSERT TEMPO ICON. that will bring up a dialog box for you to enter a new tempo. there is a button on this dialog box which allows you to click on it to "TAP TEMPO"

Yes, thanks, but the INSERT-> Tempo Change is faster. Does anyone know if the "Tap Tempo" button can be mapped to a keyboard shortcut? I went to Options->Key Bindings, Scrolled 'Bind Context' to 'Tempo View' and did not find "Tap Tempo" listed under the Function column. Of course, you would need 2 key bindings: one for "Tap Tempo", and the second for "OK", so that the tapped tempo will be applied.
