saving projects

When I save a project I find an extra file in the list called audio, but it seems to be empty. This has happened with each of my projects making an untidy mess. On my old Sonar 6 I used to save as Cakewalk Bundle all the time - slow yes but it didn't create all these extra files. Maybe I should go back to that system. Any suggestions?

If you use "per project" as your method of saving then SONAR creates a directory for the associated audio files that are created when you record audio, freeze soft-synths etc.

It sounds like you are only creating midi files at this time, please correct me if I am wrong.

If you use Per-project Audio Folders (see checkbox in Preferences > File > Audio Data), every project gets an associated Audio folder for when you start recording/bouncing/freezing tracks, but that Audio folder will be in the project folder, isolated from other Projects' Audio folders. If you don't have Per-Project folders enabled in Preferences, all projects will use one audio folder.

I think most users find Per-Project folders easier to keep straight.

So..... there aren't extra files being created, only folders yes? These folders are used as placeholders for when/if you decide to record audio. Folders take up an extremely small amount of space.

Bottom line - I wouldn't worry about it. The only time you'd even notice them is if you go poking around inside Windows Explorer.

    This is not a problem.

If there's no audio track in the project... it will be empty as mentioned above. If you delete it, AND there is no audio no problem. Next time you save the project it will simply re-create that folder. If there is audio in the project and you delete it, you will have to record those audio tracks again if you can not recover them from the trash bin.
