Help Needed Assigning Midi Controller to Pro Ch EQ
Although i have been with sonar since version 6, I have always found ACT and asigning of midi controls Not that Satifactory to be polite about it. Reguarding ACT - Despite many many times following tutorials etc, it never really works as it should or seem limited to how it works . Now all i want to do is Assign my MPK25 Encoders to The Pro ch Eq Knobs = 12 assignments, but in a takeover mode like act to control which ever Eq is in use, but i just cant seem to figure anthing out or find any help via documentation, Is this possible???, I am guessing not. My Personal thoughts, i think the most important Requests that are well overdue is with The improvements in this area (Act)etc, or even better an over hall of what i mention above, and complementing Automation Drawing Impvoments, Every time this is the major downer with sonar The most popular features in any DAW need Bringing up to Par with the rest of X1, and i think we may be getting near a perfect Daw, and the new Extended Feature Coming soon may just make for happy days, meaning in this case All works In harmony, Sonar Can redeem itself in my eyes and fully compete with the other Daws providing they embrace and add new ideas and even devices, sonar also lacks in the Creative Effects department, I would love to maybe see other modules for modulation and cutting fx etc to acompany the New extended range, would be great to start doing away with Third party Vst and Improve overall Stability. Anyhow thank for any info to my questions about ACT etc and Listening to my banter.

Assigning ACT to the encoders shouldn't be a problem, however I have a similar question elsewhere about the surface automatically following the active track for the PC Compressor controls. The EQ though should follow the active track or at least it does on the MCU but that doesn't use ACT so perhaps the EQ has the same problem as the Compressor. Have you got you rotaries assigned yet or do you need help with that?

I have Managed to assign 8 Encoders to ACT, but they will not conntrol anythng ion pro channel, they just grab the Channel faders, i have tried to use a number Of controllers with act over the years, but its just seems so tempramental, I just cant make any sense out of it really, so i keep giving up, i am Going to spend another day at this and try again, but no tutorial i have followed seems to work, I have also noticed that the controls i assign to the Act Grid or what ever it is called, Fail soon after, the controlls stop working or even switch around My original assignments, to me it is totally unfathomable, sorry i cant be any more Constructive with my explanation, This is the first time i have brought this up, so i will gather a better run down of what i am doing and get back to you. In a ideal world i woukld like to be able to assign at least 12 encoders for the pro ch Eq but i think iam restricted to eight encoder and then eight faders etc, cant find any way to use the faders for my extra encoders, its just all bussing and sends and channel strip faders. Thanks for Reply, i will get back on this thread in a day or two with better Info

You need to click on the prochannel, on the module you wish to control. If you open your "ACT MIDI Controller" properties page you should then see the cells that are assigned. You can change them to suit yourself using ACT learn. Do that by clicking the ACT button in the top right of the properties page and then click on the PC controls in the order you want to assign them, then move your controllers controls in the order that you want. If clicking on the PC doesn't change the focus of the ACT window make sure that you have ACT enabled & Follow context checked. Both options are in the "ACT MIDI Controller"

Yesterday i did manage to get my 12 encoders on my MPK25 to control a pro channel Eq, but then it just lost what it was suppose to be controlling and switched to channel faders and then i could not get it to control any Pro Ch Eq after that no matter how much i clicked on Pro channel eq, will Try again remembering what you mention . Thanks for info FBB

Just as a reminder, are you saving the changes? Not meant to be insulting, but I have done it a bunch out of excitement that I got something to work with my MPK25 and ACT.
