New Song Started

I started recording a new song today. I had written it on my acoustic about 3 months ago then put it aside as a WIP. I'm having a problem getting the right sound. I use a Line 6 X-3 and have it on basic clean guitar but I'm not satisfied with it. The last thing I tried sounded the best and that was running my Strat direct. It's getting late so I'm calling it a day but if anyone has any suggestions for a nice country sound please let me know.

DIrect to the board works for me on a lot of things. It's kind of like a plain pizza. Add toppings to suit the mood, but by all means get it down while your in the zone.

I always try to record a separate dry track even if I'm monitoring it and/or recording it wet.  That way I can reamp or blend as needed (or, in my case, usually far more than as needed - oh well!).

Some consider THIS a nice country sound...

hmmm..I got up this morning and turned everything on. I started where I left off but when I started playing the tempo was way fast. What was I drinking? Now I've got to put on some more coffee and roll up my sleeves.

Maybe cutting back on the coffee will put the tempo where it belongs?  Country's more of a trot than a gallop...

Gotta put it on hold. My Brother-in-Law's mother is very ill and has been admitted to the hospital in Carthage,Tx. My sister came in last nite and just called. I've been to her house for dinner several times and she'a a wonderful woman. I need to give my support where I can be of help.
