Wish I Was In N.Y. City
I'd love to be at that Wall Street protest. True heroes in my opinion.

so true. One could see the corruption and dishonesty that runs rampant on Wall St. and one could just care about their own portfolio

tom1 so true. One could see the corruption and dishonesty that runs rampant on Wall St. and one could just care about their own portfolio I used to work in a place where I had a pretty good position. One day the director of company bought doughnuts. Each employee was allowed 2 or 3. My own boss, who's a fairly sweet and honest guy, told me "hey, if want to grab a box for yourself at the end of your shift, just tell me, we'll have one put aside for you too..." Everybody in the team seem to think it was just normal, because, you know, we're the support staff, we work our butts off. That's w/ doughnuts and people who were otherwise pretty fair and honest. Corruption in such place as wall street is bound to occur of course. The "evil" in this world isn't the fact of some exceptions hiding in dark places - it's in all of us each time we think we can do a little exception that won't harm anybody, just for ourselves. I might be pessimistic, but I just don't think that the people protesting would do better if given the opportunity. They're the same folks who drive like madmen trying to save 5 seconds, who try to get in front of you at the cashier, etc... I think it's, for many of them, a combination of naivety and hypocrisy. I'm in NY. ;) EDIT - May sound like I don't care, but I do. I just believe in behaving fairly in my own life, w/ the people that I meet, and making sure that when I finally have a family, those same values that are ours are integrated in my kids' life.

Hey Rain: Why couldn't you say 'the cops should just kick some butt and take all the commies to jail'; I'd have some great counter lines :) Yeah, you're probably right; the people protesting would more than likely be just as corrupt; and if someone threw enough money in my face what would I do? By the way, what kind of doughnuts?

Not all of wall street is corrupt. That is main street media trash. Most of us work our butts off. I travel 150,000 miles a year+ and I work six or seven days a week. I have been providing funding for small companies for 22 years. I have never been involved in anything wrong. My U4 proves it. 95% of what I make comes from getting a financing completed. My base is barely enough to cover a very modest house (50 years old) and support my kids. Do I make too much for what I do? You answer. I am never home. I have zero time for personal relationships. I want to sleep more than anything in the world. I had to drop out of the CHB because I had no free time left. My average client would tell you I work my butt off to get their projects going. I have done start-ups. That creates jobs. The biggest problem with WS banks is that companies like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae sold them worthless mortgages with ratings that said they were riskless. Freddie and Fannie are government backed enterprises. I suggest to EVERYONE - before you espouse an opinion that is little more than MSM, do some research on your own.
Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

Of course there are decent, honest, hard working people on Wall St. but in my opinion the closer to the top you get the less likely you will find them.

700 people arrested for trying to shut down the Brooklyn Bridge. I really liked what one of the protestors said: "I think everyone is just hopeful that people will wake up and realize that the more we speak up, the more the people that do have the authority to make changes in this world, listen" This post is in no way trying to disrespect anyone with a different point of view, but also keep in mind many people do not like the direction this country is heading. and in my opinion this protest (as a whole) symbolizes democracy.

I hope you're not referring to the Useful Idiots...as Lenin used to call them.... like this guy>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YIp_Kjo-ms As it turns out he's a liar. The bank that he points at and screams that THEY took his parents house..... uhhhhh ..... all lies. An investigation and a call to his parents to get their side of the foreclosure story revealed the lies. Read more here>>> http://thepartyofknow.com...poon-in-false-protest/ He is a $70,000 a year tuition law student at George Washington Law School His parents live in a $500,000+ house. His mom alone makes over $125,000 a year. THAT BANK.... did not repossess his parents house. As a matter of fact, the house was never in forclosure, the property taxes on it are up to date and they only owe about $60k on the mortgage to THE BANK. hummmmmmmmmmm.... Willingly Useful Idiots. As far as the people being repossessed for real. Well, lots of blame to go around there I fear. Congress passed laws and regulations that forced the banks to loan money to people who had no realistic means to repay it. Then there were the people who knew they could not afford a mortgage. They should have remained renters. They were not forced to sign the notes, they did it willingly hoping that nothing would go wrong because they were mortgaged to the max with no discretionary funds left over. Layoffs and cutbacks and higher interest rates upset the apple cart. And now they want to blame the bank? Some were innocent victims of the economy, or more precisely, the mismanagement of the economy by politicians and unelected bureaucrats. Most of them..... well, they just didn't think. They bit off more then they can chew... as I see it, they made the decision, and it was a stupid one. Now they have to deal with the results.

man this is a tough crowd :) Of course, there are people that will use this protest for their own personal vendettas. there will be anarchists that want to agitate the police in the hopes of escalating violence. there will be reporters that will make up stories to sell a story. but overall, I think these are people voicing their objections toward a society that's drifting toward a plutocracy. In fact it may already be here.

I think we need to be careful what we wish. The current system has some terrible flaws, but we are spoiled. And we get away with many little things that we probably wouldn't get away with if the world was "perfect". If we really asked people to exercise their responsibilities with as much fervor as they claim their "rights", we'd be in for a nightmare. We're sloppy. Having ethics questioned is a good thing, but I'm just not sure that we have an alternative and that our behavior as a society can guarantee that we can put in place and maintain a better solution. We don't have a very good track record...

tom1 there will be anarchists that want to agitate the police in the hopes of escalating violence. There you go... that nailed it I believe. I hear it's already starting to spread to other cities. IMHO... no good will come out of this. Just more repression and loss of rights and freedom. To speak further would risk a TOS violation... this forum does not operate under the first amendment.
