Proposed Rig Setup - Give feedback please

Option 1
DM4800 Mixer and control surface - Used for audio inputs and mixer controls
Novation Remote zero mkII - Used to control Bin Effects
Novation Remote SL - Used to control VST instruments
 
Option 2
Mackie Control Universal + Extender - for controlling basic mixer parameters
Novation Remote zero mkII - Used to control Bin Effects
Novation Remote SL - Used to control VST instruments
Various Rackmount Mic Pres

    I guess it depends on what you are going to use the gear for.

    It seems like you're going to record some pretty big productions to have a big desl like a DM 4800
