A vocal track is playing and I can't find it

I'm finalizing a song that has a bunch of tracks (35), roughly half of which will be used in the final song. There's a vocal playing, however, that I can't find in any of the tracks and can't get rid of (a vocal from this song that I'd recorded at some point). I've tried looking in the track manager, and there are no Hidden tracks - all 35 are showing. I muted all the tracks but the background vocal still plays. I've also taken the approach of soloing a single track, but this background vocal continues to play. I can see it using the MasterBus and a vocal effect if I look at the busses in Console view, but I can't find the actual track which I need to delete. This is with SonarProducerX1b - still need to install the x1c patch. Any suggestions on how to find this extra track that's floating around? Thanks

After shutting down the program and restarting the project, the problem fixed itself. Should have tried that 20 minutes ago I guess . . .

OK - still broken after all. Re-opened again and extra track is playing that shouldn't be. Muted all tracks - still plays and can't figure out which track it is. Hitting solo on another track doesn't get rid of incorrectly playing one. Any ideas how to isolate and fix this problem.

How did you record your vocals?...I mean did you record in stereo with one dry to add effects later and one with effects that the vocalist can here and are they layered?

Wow that's a crazy problem, the only thing I can think to do is a clean audio disk and if that doesn't get it sorted, you may have to go into the main audio folder and search each file.

Make sure you open the track manager as well to see if you have any tracks hidden. Also, check each track for layers. Make sure you save if you find something that wasn't muted.

EDS - I did add V-vocals to some of the tracks, and I did start routing some tracks through Sends as opposed to just adding effects to those individual tracks. Do I need to turn off / deactivate the sends as well as muting or un-soloing each track?

Craig - I did check the track manager to make sure there weren't any hidden tracks. As for layers, how do I check for those? I noticed that any track with a V-vocal added seems to create an extra copy (?layer) and I had been trying to remove some of the v-vocals so I certainly may have left an extra copy around inadvertently. I'd also noticed on a couple of tracks that had clips with a red circle with a red line through it.

Ohgrant - not sure what 'clean audio disk' is - is that a function within Cakewalk? And what would I look for in the main audio folder? (I'm not that experienced with Sonar Cakewalk or audio in general, so you may have to use small words) Thanks

I think you may have it sorted with the v Vocal layers but yes, under utilities, you will find a clean audio folder function. That will get rid of obsolete files left over in the project.

Make sure you have the V-Vocal takes finished. The red circle/with line should indicate a muted clip. You 've got something undone and still active. The clean audio function might destroy something you want to keep. You're going to, have to sort through it. Mute everthing with the mute all button and see if you still have the vocal. How many takes are we talking about?

If your sends are Pre they will still play. set all of your sends to post and see if that fixes your trouble

Besides the sends, I've had this issue when not paying attention in Browser, and a clip got put over the top of another one. It wasn't readily apparent, since the track color didn't change.
