"Report it to our Web team" good joke

Tried to report web store problem but keep getting the error below.  Tried with FireFox v7.1 and Chrome and both times same thing, get the message:

Cakewalk // Server Error

The Internet is Broken . . .
or at least our little part of it is. The page you are requesting is currently unavailable or some kind of error has occurred. If you continue to receive this message please report it to our web team

unfortunately the page to report it to the web team is what is broken.

Have you tried them using IE? I'm not getting any errors with either of those links. Unless I'm misunderstanding you...when I click both links you posted, I don't get an error.

I get this on the first link:

And this on the second, both using IE 9:

You're getting an error instead and don't see what I see?

The problem is not seeing the pages - the problem is submitting the web master contact form.

Maybe it works with IE9, I didn't check Safari either.
It should work with IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

It's working with Firefox here, might have just been temporary. Have you tried again?

What's annoying to me is that I have to use IE for the forum posting features to work correctly, now that should work in Firefox.

If I wasn't doing this I'd just be doing something else...

    +1
I normally use FireFox as well but I'm using Chrome for my posting.
I reported the problem of posting with FireFox a couple of weeks ago.
(no formatting tools, line feeds & formatting get deleted so post appears as a text blob)

    According to http://www.w3schools.com/...owsers_stats.asp
these are the current browser usage statistics. I'm willing to bet with musicians it's even more skewed away from IE.
You'd think Cake would have more of a concern about browser compatibility.

IMO the entire CW web presence is an utter mess.  All the debate about what browser are you using is pretty much moot on most web savvy company sites, this one is badly maintained throughout.

    Simple fact.

The greatest marketing gift they have at their disposal is badly neglected, that has worried me for a long time.

A sad thing about it is that it is perfectly representative of the actual company and it's products, plenty of good stuff there but the execution badly lacks quality of functionality and finish.

Yep, sounds about right. I'm kind of worried about Cakewalk in general. I get the impression that they're stretched a little thin.

You know what Steven, now that you mention it....I had the same problem you're talking about. I saw the pages, but got the error when I tried to submit. I contacted Willy Jones and he told me the page was jacked and he fixed it. So maybe it's not you...at all. This has happened before. Send Willy a pm or something if you get a minute.

I can't get to any Cake sites with Firefox 7.  I get an error message that says:

    "Bad Request.

HTTP Error 400. The request is badly formed."

    Frustrating and confusing.

FWIW Cakewalk ARE aware that ASPPlayground that make the forum software can't understand why they are still using version 3.5 of the software when the latest free update solves the known browser issues that this version has.

Anybody that has administered any kind of forum software before knows it isn't a big job to keep it updated.

    Go figure.

LOL Jon...I dunno man....I updated mine recently from a super old version to one of the later ones...and it ain't been right since. LOL!!! It gave me more problems than the one that was supposedly loaded with errors. Part of that was due to my hosting company of course, but the other part was....the update just didn't do all that we thought it would. Hahaha! Then again...it's my fault for not going with a better forum. I don't get anywhere near the traffic this place gets though...so I didn't want to go too nuts. :)

Cakewalk have a commercial version of the software not like the likes of you and I that use Open Source freebies.

A commercial license means they'll get their hands held while the performing the deed.

    Hi Danny,

Do you have any problems posting to the CW forums using ie9 ? I tried ie9 twice and had problems posting. When I tried to post the page would freeze, I would have to refresh, then the post would show up as posted on the refreshed page. I quickly tired of that.
I have tried Firefox and Chrome and they are fast but I don't know my way around the security settings etc... besides ie works just fine for me... (except that 9 hasn't worked well on this forum). If it is working now perhaps I'll give it another try.

    Thanks,

I like the 500 internal server error message:

    Sorry, something went wrong.

A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation.

They seem to do a pretty god job too because things usually work on the second try and I rarely get the message.

LOL Jon, good point mate. :)

Julien: I've never had a problem using IE since I switched to Windows 7. In the past, I've had problems with IE on certain sites and switched to a browser that worked beautifully that I still use from time to time called Crazy Browser. It's pretty cool and a very small download. It might be worth it to try it. www.crazybrowser.com

It still works great on here as well. Now for me...as weird as this may sound, I've always had issues with Chrome, FireFox and one other that was pretty popular...can't remember the name....Opera maybe? I've always had good results with Nutscrape when it was around....then I think AOL bought them out and it all went down hill. But IE has been really good to me. I also keep it updated and always have the latest version.

LOL Steve! You're too good to me...thanks. :) I get killer download speeds....uploads are a bit lame, but it's about 700kb something up in reality with the down speeds being close to 4.5 mb. Not too bad for a $50 plan.

Julien: No problem, I think you'll like CB...if it works for you that is. I started using that years ago with certain chat programs and virtual online places where IE would either freeze or just not work properly. CB always worked, so I stuck with it. When the newer IE came out and then Win 7, it just worked so well I tried it for a bit and liked it. Both browsers work about the same now though...and I believe CB works off of IE's engine minus the bloated stuff. :)

Steven: So sorry for derailing your thread my friend.

If you are on the beta channel for Firefox, they are changing pretty quickly. I have a test machine that just went from version 7.0 to 8.0. I do get quite a few errors on certain sites when I use that computer.

You can fix that particular problem by deleting the cookies for cakewalk.com
The only reason I know this is that I've been hit with the same problem several times over the last couple of years.  This kind of problem (from a dev point of view) shouldn't happen - once, well OK mistakes happen; 3 or more times...
