I'm so jealous

All these years on the forum and I have never been banned. Seems like everybody else has been at least once.... most recently, the famous JB...

I did get the equivilent of a slap on the wrist from a moderator one time for crossing the line on religion or maybe it was politics.... yeah I think it was political, probably about guns or something.

Then the moderator takes the sting out if it by saying he agreed with me.....

can't loose for winning....

Some folks can't be here a week before they get banned.....  go figure....

Like going to prison and not having any tattoos.....

That's funny G. My mother (and father) lived in Beaumont, CA which is literally right next to Banning.

    I've been to Banning many-a-time.

If I were to get banned I would be devistated. Not because of being banned but because no one would miss me or ask where I am... but I learned to handle it long ago after regularly being the last one picked for everything. Mom was probably right when she said that I would never amount to anything... so go ahead and ban me and get it over with.
The waiting is the hardest part...

Constant attempts at keeping the think tank sane have failed. Let the sauce reduce for a while as they say. I think only the instigator should be warned-banned. Some have made an art out of baiting people into crossing the line. It wouldn't happen face to face and that is what is sad. I know I've learned over the years here to just let it pass or get their address and take care of it elsewhere. But really, this is a Cakewalk forum. It's not not our own personal promotion site for either ideas or beleifs and even though overlaping of such is unavoidable, we as users must keep the subject focused.

Now I know there is no justice...

I'd never be able to live with the shame and stigma if I ever got banned.

I guess that's what keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Perhaps iffin get banned I did, would be because of misunderstand, as language that isn't my first is English.

    Yeas, no, mebbee?

I can understand a moderator eliminating or repremanding those who are overtly rude to others or who are inconsiderate or who post overtly sexual stuff. Its the other political/religious statements that to me are difficult to discern what is or is not acceptable.
I say this because just about every avenue of life is somehow tied to one or both of these I. To limit discussion on some of this is to limit who you are. Lots of times discussions come up that polarize people and cause people to take sides, sometimes this is cordial and sometimes it isn't...and these are the so called non-religious,non-political discussions.
I guess if I say the wrong thing I'll know it. To the credit of the moderators , this forum errs more toward freedom of speech and opinion than it does  censorship. Obviously the intent of the boards in general is toward things Cakewalk, things relating to music software and the CH was probably intended for similar discussion but not limited by it... Far more is thought about and discussed than merely music software and equipment and I am glad for that because imagine what a boring place this would be without the daily posts from so many of you!

the only reason politics and religion are forbidden subjects is because they inevitablely lead to rudeness and inconsiderate posts and sometimes yelling at each other and calling names.  if people could discuss those subjects without getting out of control then they might not be unacceptable.

My inherent repulsiveness is a natural defense mechansim against banning.  Sentient beings exhibit a strong self-preservation instinct when prompts them to avoid association with me.  No self-respecting Moderator wants to expose themselves to such a risk merely in order to ban me.

Oddly enough, this same principle is in effect in the physical world as well.

True dat, and it's a shame, because it would nice to occasionally discuss those subjects (and others) with the gang here.

You'll have to ask Mooch. I don't want to say I don't believe a word he says, so I'll just say I don't understand a word he says.

Nothing wrong with belief.  I've got no problem with someone whose beliefs differ from mine.  When we feel strongly about things, we express our views passionately.  IMO, the problem begins when we fail to respect the other person, even when we disagree.  A little common courtesy and respect go a long way towards creating an environment where people can discuss subjects where they feel deeply.  If the people involved cannot be trusted to conduct themselves accordingly, then the solution is to limit the scope of the conversations in order to maintain a civil, if not respectful tone.

In many cases, this is accomplished by turning up the volume on the football game in order to drown out the sound of Uncle Oswald's latest rant.

The other problem is that it is normally the same Uncle Oswald's that like to dominate those kind of discussions.

    Regards

    Oswald.
