Problems with VSTs

I'm running into a couple of odd problems with VSTs. They are mostly happening with my East West Quantum Leap VSTs.

1) When a VST pops up a window notifying you something, it pops up BEHIND sonar. You have to minimize the VST and X1 to access the "pop up".

2) The VSTs will load incorrectly when opening them from an already saved project. When I open a sonar project with a VST, saved from a previous session it will sometimes load, sometimes not. When it doesn't load, I can't see the VST's GUI. I can see it in my synth rack, but not make it pop up... UNLESS I change my view, and then go back to view 1. Even then, I still can't get any audio output from the VST.

Any Ideas?

I'm running Sonar X1 Patch 3, with the latest 64 bit Windows 7.

Thanks!

I'm guessing it is something in your settings that tells Sonar to remain at the front. I'd check on those settings... IDK where to tell you to look for that.

Pop-ups should come to the front.

Missing audio.... could be several things causing that. I've had it happen too but not recently. I don't have time to go into details now.... gotta get out the door to work. I'll have a look back later.

East West Quantum Leap Strings and StormDrum.

Most of the time now when I try and open up my project with those VST's in it, X1 freezes.

freezing... could the VST not be installed right? Corrupted install?

It almost sounds like you are in Sonar 64bit and using the 32bit EW play version.  The correct play version should be c:\program files\cakewalk\Vstplugins\play_VST_x64.dll.  If you are using the 32bit plugin it will likely be atc:\program files (x86)\cakewalk\Vstplugins\play_VST.dll.  If you are using 64bit Sonar and the 32bit version of play it will have to go through bitbridge and that could be the source of the problem you are seeing.
If you are using the 64bit then download the latest EW play version and install the 64bit version.

Sonar Platinum 64bit, Win 8.1 Pro 64bit,  Quad Core 3.2GHz,  16G ram, Edirol FA 101, Nvidia
EW (Platinum Orchestra, Hollywood Strings, Pianos, Gypsy, Fab 4, Ministry of Rock,Choirs, etc)
