Happy Charlie

A word about this week's Kicksville release: Place tongue firmly in cheek before listening or you will SO get the wrong idea

No, we're not a bunch of knife-wielding maniacs - this song is actually about being homeless. One of our members wrote these lyrics while he was living on the street a couple of winters ago, the idea being that maybe being in jail was better that out on the street. And if you're going to go to jail, you might as well go big, right?

Anyhoo, enjoy! As always, it's a free download.

I think that is true for a lot of homeless people.  At least in jail you got a roof and food.  I have never been homeless though but from what I have heard a lot of people prefer to stay in jail.  I would turn the vocals up some more as far as the mix.  Good song :)  and I like the way the writer says he wants to go to jail haha.

    Hey Alex -

Thanks for the feedback, man! Yeah, it's been released, so I can't go back and fix anything now, but I definitely appreciate the input.  Although....I can always tweak it for the Collector's Edition version we put out at the end of the Season! Now, I assume you mean the main vocal - there are a substantial number of little snippets that are supposed to be kinda buried a la Dark Side of the Moon....

And you got the idea exactly - at least in jail you're fed and  there's shelter. Fortunately for Tone Deaf, we got him situated so he never had to go down that road. He's an amazing artist and street poet, so that helped give him a certain perspective needed to make art out of ****e.....and a good sense of dark humor didn't hurt

If you're curious, there's a good deal of his art on our web site - he's not only a writer and performer with us, he actually does these pieces on stage during our show: http://www.kicksville.com/art/tonedeaf.html

Thanks again, Alex! If you get a chance, please feel free to poke around at the other Season 4 tracks and let me know what you think of those too!

    Hey, Conrad,

Very cool track with excellent performances and really great production!  The vibe I got from it is sort of a cross between Zappa and Captain Beefheart.

Really unique sounding and very good stuff!

    Hey Bob -

Man, thank you! It's great to be mentioned in the same breath as the Great Masters Zappa & Beefheart

And yep - everything was recorded, edited and mixed in Sonar, but it was mastered by Jay Frigoletto at Mastersuite.

BTW, every track is radically different (schizo-phonic is the best description I've heard yet). Last week's release, Isithandwa Sami , is a South African-flavored techno-y kind of thing, and it just gets weirder from there

Thanks again for taking the time to listen, Bob - and there's a lot more to come!

Kind of a progressive Authur Brown song sort of. Interesting tunage. I like the beat and how everything works together.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
