[Clarified] Clarification on Expanded Please

I am a bit confused about what the difference is between Sonar Expanded and the PC4K Expander Module.  I have checked the Cakewalk website and I still don't understand.

What do you get in Expanded vs. the PC4K?

You need Expanded to use the PC4k. Expanded is a new version of X1.  PC4k is a module for Pro Channel under Expanded.

The PC4K is just a module that goes into the pro channel. Sonar exspanded is a new updated version of Sonar. One is a program and the other is an effect.

If I understand correctly - I haven't got X1 Expanded yet - the PC4K is an optional expander/gate module for Pro Channel.   I think it's just coincidental that the update itself is called "Expanded" and there happens to be a new "expander" module for PC.

Yes that is correct.

X1 Expaned = a new set of features and tools for SONAR X1

PC4K = a new ProChannel Module that requires X1 Expanded

I think it's just coincidental that the update itself is called "Expanded" and there happens to be a new "expander" module for PC.

Indeed!  There will be some additional ProChannel modules available soon so hopefully that will make it less confusing.

So we gotta buy the Expanded version for $50..then shell out another $50 for a simple expander/gate "module" that can't be used with any other DAW, correct ?

No it's not compulsory, just there if you want it. X1c continues to be supported.
