When does SONAR Crash? Does it happen when you launch SONAR or at some point after you have it up and running? What other sorts of things do you have running on your computer? Wi Fi? Internet? Anti Virus? etc. etc. If you can post some answers to those questions maybe someone can start walking you through some trouble shooting. best regards, mike

Hi Jerry - thanks. You are going to have to be more specific about "it keeps crashing". .... What's the error message? Be as specific as you can. If not error message say what you see, and tell us how it happened. Is there anything in the Windows Event Viewer? What exactly is this "bitmap error".... full details please. Also you are running Sonar X1B. Right now suggest: Upgrade Sonar to X1C. Update your graphics cards drivers, chipset drivers, BIOS (I notice you are running AMD). If it ain't up to date - update it. If it moves... update it. Update your sound drivers. If there's a firmware update for your graphics card or sound card - update it. Make sure you are running "legacy" firewire drivers if you are running a firewire card. Also run Windows Update. Turn off "PowerNow" in your BIOS (AMD equivilant of Intel speedstep). If that does not work do you run antivirus? - what exactly is it? (Full details please). What happens if you uninstall it (make sure you unplug from your network first). If the worst comes to the worst and nobody is able to resolve, at least you can point Cakewalk support to this thread by supplying info on what you did. Lots to do then.... Cheers...

Hi In Sonar goto Help - About and you can check to see if you are on X1C. Sorry without giving exact error messages and precise info on what happens there is very little we can do to help. You've already been given a link for Intel chipset driver (there will probably be documentation somewhere about this), however we don't even know if you are running Intel chipset. Do NOT install unless you are absolutely certain these are the correct drivers. You need to understand what hardware you have, and how it is displayed in Windows device manager.... basically learn how Windows works, or find a knowledgeable friend (or IT guy) to help you I suggest. I'm not sure if you are able to contact the people who sold you Windows? Remember Google is your friend as well. Most of the info I have given you is what you need to do, as far as how where to download the latest updates for drivers there's no info supplied so I can't help you, and besides it's really beyond the scope of these forums (you will need to research this, consider purchasing a book and maybe Microsoft Windows forums can guide you). You should at least be able to run Windows Update, google should help you here as well. Sorry it could be quite a bit of a learning curve.... Cheers Alex p.s. If you are sure it's Sonar crashing, then definately contact Cakewalk support, but make sure you arm them with exactly what is happening, and as much precise info as you possibly can... otherwise they won't be able to help you. My gut feeling though is that the issue is away from Cakewalk if you've installed X1C.

i have to admit..this is one of the most vague threads i have seen in awhile..how are we supposed to help you if you give us no info except your crashing and something about a bitmap..i know your new..but save your threads for when youve got all your info in front of you and you can sit here trouble shooting it back and forth..comming back here every few day is redicules.get your error messeges, write them down and post all youve got at once..your more likely to get an answer that will be more productive,
