Frequent crashes when using the Scrub Tool.

I just got Expanded, but have had this problem for awhile now. I'm running Sonar x64 on Win 7 x64. I've got a 2.8GHz i7 processor and 12GB of RAM. I'm hoping there's just a setting I need to tweak. Anybody else have this problem? Anyone fix it? Thanks.

Scrub Tool has always been a bit flakey for me to- going back to my first DAW Sonar 7.

It doesn't crash my system in X1 but often ducks out after a couple of seconds and maintains this behaviour until I restart sonar.

Ah, when I finally killed the session there were some jBridge "dispatcher 23" errors hiding behind Sonar that cited instances of Auto-Tune I had open in the project. Worth noting: I wasn't using Auto-Tune on the track I was scrubbing.

I also experience frequent crashes with the scrub tool. I can force the crash 100% of the time. I am running X1c 64-bit on a StudioCat built machine (i7-2600k, 8GB with Win7 64bit). Currently running a very small 8-audio track project at 96k/24 with a handful of iZotope Alloy plugins. Running at about 6% cpu and 18% mem usage. Using ASIO with buffer setting 128. Soundcard is Lynx AES16e.

If I only scrub a small area I am fine. As soon as I try to scrub over an extended area X1 locks up. The larger I make the ASIO buffer the more tolerant it seems to become. I don't think this is new. I seem to recall having the same problems with scrub on Sonar 8.5.3 but can't check because I no longer have it installed.

I pretty much stopped using scrub in Sonar because of this. If I needed to do that type of audio editing I usually callup Adobe Audition where the scrub function works reliably and there are excellent tools to repair wave files.

I'd like to use scrub more often but it's always a bit risky. That's the weird thing about Sonar, you get to know how to make it fall over, so you end up changing your work pattern to avoid the oddities. Scrub is actually very handy- easily audition precise part of one track without soloing etc.

I've owned Sonar Producer 7, 8.5,X1 and now expanded. And I've had Sonar on I think 4 computers. Scrub Tool has always been crap. But very few people seem to complain about it- it makes me think that hardly anyone uses it (maybe because it is prone to falling over).

Imagine this- a version of Sonar where you are not worried it's going to fall over on you, no matter what you throw at it- throw in VSTs during playback, good Scrub Tool, gapless audio. That would be so cool. Sometimes when I have a big project going I feel like I am walking around with a container of sweaty gelignite and it's going to blow up in my face at any moment.

I'm experiencing consistent crashes when using the x64 Vintage Compressor. I'm using Windows 7 X64. I thought it might have to do with some recent windows patch and the bitbridge. After a restart it works ok until I export a wav. After that, it hangs until I restart. I'm not able to kill the sonar program from the task list either.

BTW, this problem has just started. I'm a regular user. I do this a lot and have done it for years. I'm not sure what's up.

I have tried using asio to the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra and the regular through the laptop. The problem is the same on both.

    >> I have now found that if I kill Sonar then go to processes and show processes from all users and use Kill Tree, I can re-launch without re-starting the computer.
    >> now this doesn't work anymore. I'm bummed.

If you're talking about the VintageChannel compressors they are working ok for me in 64bitW7. Even after exporting/importing/reinserting VC etc. Sorry to hear about your glitches... It sux when you just want to use what's in the toolbox but the DAWGods want to p!ss on your parade. I can even open the Vintage Channel manual from the plug in which I couldn't do in previous Sonars.
