Notes that may help installing X1 Expanded (somewhat confusing but ultimately successful)

I just finished running Setup for X1 Expanded. Here's how it went:

At the "Get Registration Information, User Info" prompt, I completed the data for my name, company and serial number. I got this message: "Invalid Serial Number. Please enter the Serial Number again."

I tried the "Download Code for X1 Expanded" that I just received. No success.

I tried the serial number from my copy of X1. No success.

I tried the serial number as listed in my Cakewalk Store account, which has no dashes or periods, unlike the one on the software box. No success.

Then, before posting to ask for help, I went back to check my email and saw I had received a new email with "SONAR X1 Expanded Serial Number" and "SONAR X1 Expanded Registration Code". I tried Setup again and this time entered the "Expanded Serial Number" and that worked.

Then it wanted the "Expanded Registration Code" so I had to go back to the email to copy that and return to finish the installation.

 Some conclusions:

1) the installation worked, eventually

2) it seemed to be a lot more complicated and misleading than it needed to be

3) I was misled into thinking the download code just sent was the serial number I would need

4) I then guessed incorrectly that the serial number that had worked from prior installations for X1 patches would work again

5) the serial number stored on the Cakewalk store has a different format from the one on the package; don't know if this might matter someday

One will/should receive an e-mail with serial number(s) and registration code(s)- I did while downloading the files.

I entered them as needed from the e-mail and no issues.
    Printed the e-mails for records.
    Easy.

I used the SN and Reg #s in "My Account" and it all went smooth as silk. It never asked for the Reg # for the Exp/Lim though... but it seems to work anyway.

Family will be gone Monday and I will hook up my OC and see what it will do. I have only started it with no midi outputs and looked around. Monday I will record some audio and softsynth and play with the FX chains and PC. Tuesday too... it is supossed to RAIN Mon and Tue and that is OK with me, there will (hopefully) be no mowers, edgers, blowers, or any other yard equipment running. There will only be the fire station next door but they aren't too bad, they usualy don't turn the siren on until they are about 1/2 mile down the road.

Monday, Monday, so good to me
Monday mornin', will be all I hope it will be
Oh Monday mornin', Monday mornin' it's X1E for me
And Monday evenin' it will still be here with me.

I hope you're still good on Tuesday...
The next part goes like this:

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time

    Good luck anyways... ;-)

No problems during install but I too experienced the no request for registration code with the PC4K PC plugin. Ah well.

I spent 5 minutes trying my X1 code in every variation I could think of until I realised there was a new code for expanded.
