Hmmm...a little FX Chain flakiness

As I wrote in another thread...I'm dig'n Expanded. Having said that, I've had a couple of flakey things happen. First, the sound engine would stop when I added one of the Cake supplied FX Chain presets and would start again as soon as I deleted it. I restarted SONAR and the issues has gone away...for now. Second, while creating some of my own chains SONAR ...CRASHED. I never had that happen in 8.5 with the chains. I restarted SONAR and all seems well...for now. By the way, this is my first full fledged project with X1. I wanted to wrap the old 8.5 projects up first. This makes me a little nervous.

RAWK!!!

For the record - "8.5" never had "Chains".

What is your audio latency setting?    I ask because I suspect some of the presets for the Chains may be more taxing on the system than others.   If you are used to working at extremely low buffer (latency) settings, this could be a problem for some presets.

    Though it shouldn't crash.

Actually, the SONAR canned presets caused the audio engine to just stop - no crash...once.  When I deleted the preset from the track FX bin the audio engine started again on its own.  I restarted SONAR and that issued seems to be gone.

SONAR crashed when I was creating one of my own chains.  The chain only had an instance of Sonitus reverb and delay.  When I restarted SONAR the chain works without issue.  As I wrote...flakey.

I'm at work so I'm not sure about my latency but I know it's pretty low.

I tried a few times to reproduce the "audio engine stopping" issue but couldn't.  I haven't tried to crash SONAR br creating my own FX chain again.  I'll do some experimenting when I get home tonight.

I didn't play with the FX chain last night, however, I did a bunch of recording work in X1 Expanded last night without a single issue.  Recoded a few acoustic guitar tracks, Dimension Pro keys and setup a Superior Drummer arrangement...all without issue.

I'll beat up the FX chain tonight just to see if the flakey issues are specific to that functionality.
