Phew! What a week

The beginning of last week we had my 82 year old mother-out-law to stay to celebrate my partners birthday this weekend just gone.

She's fantastic really sharp and stimulating company and we get on like a house on fire so that was great and we had some real fun and laughs.  For the first time in a long time I was able to take my partner into town to make sure she spent as much money on herself as she dare (and then some more) as an alternative to my usual slinking off into town to get her some trinket while she pretends that she doesn't know what I'm up to.  To cap all this (so I thought) my eldest daughter then turned up on the Saturday with her boyfriend so that we could all go into town to enjoy a meal at my partners favourite brasserie.

He had an inspired stroke of genius in tipping off the restaurant staff about my partners Birthday which ended up with her being served her meal with a sparkler being stuck in it and the entire restaurant, and I mean the entire restaurant, singing Happy Birthday to her.

The final touch was when my erstwhile 19 year old turned up that evening to join in the merriments, for reasons best known to herself we haven't seen her for the best part of 2 years, so it was rich icing on the rest of the cake.

So there we were six of us dossing down in our tiny apartment, we had to book appointments and take turns to move...lol.

The only downside was that I'd picked up some gastric bug earlier in the week that had been getting worse and decided to peak on the Saturday night to put me out of the picture totally for Sunday morning when everybody had to leave.  Even that had a positive spin on it though as it resulted in me losing another few pounds to go toward my current weight loss regime.

So I'm completely and utterly trashed as well as being totally happy this week which seems like a good combination.

Happy days.

A little gastric issue can help convince unwanted visitors that it's time to leave, but is no fun when you want them to stick around!

    Glad everything came out alright.

(Er, maybe I should rephrase that a bit?)
