32 vs 64 bit Input Monitoring

When I run Guitar Rig or Amplitube as effects in Sonar (everything 32 bit) there is very little latency.
When I do the same in Sonar 64 with both the 32 bit or 64 bit versions of the plugins (amplitube 64) there is quite a bit of latency. Any ideas why and how I might fix this issue?

Update Guitar Rig via auto update (run it standalone).
Update Sonar to X1C (you haven't supplied any info in your footer).
Make sure you are running decent and up to date drivers. Use the legacy firewire driver for 64 bit if you are using firewire.
    If it moves update it.
Otherwise check your Sonar preferences to see what might be slowing it down (e.g. 64 bit engine?).

Everything is updated, what do you mean by the 64 bit engine might be slowing it down?

    Excellent....
Not having the legacy firewire driver installed is generally the killer I find (CPU spikes like mad otherwise).
