Should audio CDs be imported into Sonar at 44.1/16

should audio CDs be imported into Sonar at 44.1 (sample rate) and 16 (bit depth) since that is how they were recorded? In other words, when Sonar converts to a higher sample rate and bit depth, is any audio information lost? Thanks, Jonathan

I always have my import bit depth set as 'Original'.

You won't gain anything by importing into a higher bit depth or sample rate project neither will you 'lose' anything.

It would probably help in advising what you 'should' do if you gave some idea of what you intended to do with the files once you've imported them.

I do all my recording in 48/24, and it's a hassle to change that (my interface has a physical switch for selecting sample rate). I just want to be 100% sure that increasing the sampling rate/bit depth won't introduce any artifacts. I'm eventually going to mix it back down to 44.1/16. Thanks, Jonathan

There should be no harm in that, nothing lost and no audible artifacts.
