X1E Verdict in??
I'm not looking to hear more about features etc. What I'm really interested in is the stability of X1E compared to X1C. I've read lots about the notion that E is better than C in terms of overall performance. Is it true? Have the Pro Channel issues been sorted out with the PC rebuild? If true I'll buy the update just for the improvements to core code. I really don't have a good feeling about any more X1C fixes coming.

Hey Ampfixer! As we know, there are as many answers to this as there are forum members But for me, the whole application seem to run smoother. It rarely - if ever - crash now and if it does it's usually my own fault. But for me, compared to the older version, I no longer have to think about Sonar as being between me and my music. I just use it and doesn't give it any more thought. And to me that's a great improvement. Yes, the audio engine or sequence engine or whatever it is does make a pop in the usual circumstances. Dropouts are rare. BTW, I've had a fairly stable setup since day one of X1 and it has only improved. And I've been in love with the workflow since day one. With Expanded X1 feels more complete to me in terms of stability and features. I never really experienced any issues with Pro Channel and since X1b or something - when I started using it seriously - I've been abusing it to great extent. Scrolling and everything else seems to be humming along with the music - so to speak From personal experience I would recomend you to upgrade if you are keen on the features. It's interesting to see some of the people with show stoping issues are now praising Sonar X1E. If you want to make more of the PC then I'd will definitely recommend you to upgrade. It may be a minor adjustment to it but it really feels flexible now. Performance wise, I have never had a more stable Sonar on my computer. Well perhaps v3 or so - and I had to get more and more carefull after that. On v7 I decided to eventually leave Sonar, got a killer deal to 8.5 and decided to stay for a while longer. Now I'm nearly 100% content with Sonar, much more than I have ever been in fact. I rely on Sonar to make apprrox half of my income as well as for my own musical endavours in bands etc. I have no complaints really. They should make a demo with Expanded... JMHO EDIT TO ADD: BitBridge is not my favourite. I have some rouge 32-bit plugins that are seriously annoying even with jBridge. But I try to avoid them. So in any case I think it's a good idea to avoid BitBridge if that has caused you headache before. It doesn't seem to be any better.

Thank you, that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I do suspect that more went under the hood in X1E than was let on. I too am generally happy with X1 but still having the odd problem. Since I bailed on Pro Channel everything seems better but I'd like to use it. I wish they would tell us what the plan is moving forward. I don't spend well when confused.

I'm running X1essential with the latest update/fix. Previously I ran MC4&5... mostly 4. On my newer DAW with XP, this thing (X1 & MC4,5,6) is rock solid and as steady as I could want. Very few issues and glitches...at least not from the DAW or the computer.... I can force a restart with melodyne if I do something... so I try not to do that anymore, but even that is not a crash.... It's an audio engine stoppage. I think the computer, the OS, and the amount of crapware that is on it, as well as all the TSR stuff that is running will affect the stability of the DAW. TSR apps use up CPU cycles and the DAW needs as much free CPU as possible to do what it needs to do. My store bought lappy had crapware and TSR as well as AV & firewall software that ran all the time, and I'd have crashes and BSOD's on it quite often. I developed a "save after every thing I did" sort of mentality that carries over to the newer DAW even though it doesn't crash like the lappy was predisposed to do frequently.

I don't spend well when confused. Same here. I'm so happy I decided to just stick with 8.5. The money I'll save skipping future DAW upgrades will be better spent on instruments and effects. Not having to debug still-doughy software means making more music without having to even think about the DAW at all. It does mean I have less to talk about on the forum, but oh well. I can always talk about becan.

I don't spend well when confused. Ha! That's a great quote. I think that this last release was one of the most confused bits of marketing I've ever seen too. Expanded is not an update it's a new X1 that builds on features introduced in X1 Pro, none of which are available in Studio or Essentials. By my calculations that increases the X1 product line to 3.187465 products but you can't get to own the 'new' Flagship product now unless you start out from the just short of the Flagship product, product. Perhaps we're not confused at all, perhaps that actually is what just happened. No, it can't be that would be too far-fetched, no?

Perhaps we're not confused at all, perhaps that actually is what just happened. Don't you love it when second guessing your own perception becomes an autonomic response? My perception tells me my X1 Pro is not as spry as the vitamin E equipped version and I must update to make it right. It's really starting to bother me. It's a size thing. If my DLL isn't as big as the next guys how can I hold my head up. Even guys that aren't using it are buying it. Hmmmm Spare change?, anyone got any spare change?
