Can someone try some of my rotary knobs...

...and report back if they work?

Maybe someone can post a screen shot too... so I can see if the knobs are sized ok etc.

Thanks in advance to who ever might have some time and patience and be able to help test.

best,
mike

so you did decide to install expanded?  I recall reading in another thread that you paid for the upgrade then were refusing to install it.  or was that a joke that I didn't get?

I'll try your knobs when I can, tonight or tomorrow maybe.

I purchased a license the day it was announced.

I need to team up with someone who downloaded it so that we can have some fun with fx chains. :-)

The links to the left of each animation are for the 6966x54 .png ROTARY files that you may use as knobs in the new FX Chain 2.0 skins.

    Here's a tutorial:

I'd like to work with someone to make a ultra modern super clean styled pack of graphic assets.

I need the other person to help by putting together a groovy chain that we can decorate as I produce the small graphic assets.

Hi Mike, All four knobs are turning clockwise and the seem to get darker as they reach the 6 o'clock position. Is that what you're looking for?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

I was imagining that they track just as the gif animations in my sig.

Does it seem that clockwise is as you would expect? That's what I anticipate, but maybe not?

The idea is that at "zero" they are darkest and the pointer is at approx 7 o'clock... and as you open them up towards "full", or 100 percent that they get brighter and stop at approximately 5 o'clock.

Most VSTs use a vertical strip for rotary knobs... the FX Chain app uses a horizontal aspect so I am guessing about orientation of the final animation.

    Thanks for helping!

    mike

You're welcome. A little more info: When I clicked on the hyperlink label, a tiny row of the knob in question shows up in a new tab. What kind of effect is "chicken"? Shouldn't there be a "becan" knob for Beagle? Just curious. LOL

Yes, that is the .png file which anyone may *Save Image* from the web and use to load into the FX Chain.

I guess I thought you had done that and loaded the .pngs in a FX Chain... were you observations just about the animated .gifs?

The .png files are the actual graphics asset required... the animated gifs are just to illustrate and help identify the knob.

I haven't needed to load any .pngs. Sorry Mike, I misunderstood. Sonar isn't on this PC. It's on another system that usually doesn't go online. I may give it a try, but that may take a while.

I could do some skins to look like a Reason Combinator, that would be a wheeze.

But then again I can't be bothered...

Here's the real deal though if anyone want's to do a Sonar version. Bear in mind this combinator has the 'programmer' open where you set up the key mapping and modulation routing, none of this is available in FX Chains 2, so you'd just be trying to get the look of the top half of this image.

Not that I'm comparing a Reason Combinator to FX Chains 2 mind you as FC2 is a completely novel concept for dealing with FX chains and any similarity between FC2 and Reasons combinator introduced 7 years ago is purely co-incidental.

Just to outline some of the things that make Combinators different is that they can include instruments as well as effects, you can route specific midi events to different devices in the chain and you can assign a singe knob or button to perform several functions on the chains components at once.

Sonar FC2 does work on VST's though, and like the combinator it exposes a re-skinnable container.

Without wining and dining first? No.

They do look like some high class knobs though.

I like the way they change colour according to position.

I just can't stop staring, Mike.  It's like tracking the ripples across certain forum member's flab as they move.  You want to look away, but you can't.

Knobs that change color.  That could be handy.  Could you make an EQ knob that would change color so that if someone wanted a more "orangey" guitar tone it would change to that color?

Or maybe go clear for that "glassy" Strat sound?
